Essential oil and apple pomace affect fermentation and aerobic stability of alfalfa silage

چکیده

This study assessed the effects of additions an essential oil (EO), composed ricinoleic acid, cardol, cardanol, and apple pomace, on fermentation quality aerobic stability alfalfa silages. The experimental treatments consisted T1) (control), T2) with EO, T3) (75%) pomace (25%), T4) (25%) T5) (50%) (50%), T6) T7) (75%), T8) EO. addition decreased silage pH compared control (P <0.01). Apple at 25% level increased total volatile fatty acid (iVFA) content <0.05). Essential (EO) tVFA dry matter (DM) 90 days after ensiling ammonia (N-NH3), crude protein (CP), ash (CA) amounts neutral detergent fibre (NDF) (ADF) (level 75%) effective digestibility EO Thus, use as a source fermentable carbohydrate and/or in preparation high-quality is recommended to offset its high buffering capacity low content.

Effects of sodium diacetate on the fermentation profile, chemical composition and aerobic stability of alfalfa silage

OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of sodium diacetate (SDA) on fermentation profile, chemical composition and aerobic stability of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) silage. METHODS Fresh alfalfa was ensiled with various concentrations of SDA (0, 3, 5, 7, and 9 g/kg of fresh forage). After 60 days of the ensiling, the samples were collected to examine the fermentative...

Effects of calcium propionate on the fermentation quality and aerobic stability of alfalfa silage

OBJECTIVE To assess the potency of calcium propionate (CAP) used as silage additive, an experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of CAP on the nitrogen transformation, fermentation quality and aerobic stability of alfalfa silages. METHODS Alfalfa was ensiled with four levels of CAP (5, 10, 15, and 20 g/kg of fresh weight [FW]) in laboratory silos for 30 days. After opening, the silag...

Aerobic Stability of Silage

Many factors affect the silage fermentation process. For example, the DM content and buffering capacity of the crop to be ensiled, the amount of fermentable sugar available at ensiling and the type and numbers of microorganisms that dominate the fermentation process can markedly affect fermentation. However, Woolford (1990) stated that “the single most important factor which influences the effi...

The Effect of Adding Different Levels of Flaxseed Essential Oil to Alfalfa Silage on Chemical Composition and In Vitro Fermentation Characteristics

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of flaxseed essential oil (0, 60 or 120 mg/kg) on chemical composition, aerobic stability, and in vitro gas production of alfalfa silage. Experimental treatments include: alfalfa treatment without additive (control), alfalfa with 60 mg/kg flaxseed oil and alfalfa with 120 mg/kg flaxseed essential oil, which were kept at room tempe...

the effect of bacteria, enzymes and inulin on fermentation and aerobic stability of corn silage.

background and objectives: ensiling is a conservation method for forage crops. it is based on the fact that anaerobe lactic acid bacteria (lab) convert water-soluble carbohydrates into organic acids. therefore, ph decreases and the forage is preserved. the aim of this study was to isolate special kinds of lactic acid bacteria from silage and to study the effect of bacteria, inulin and enzymes a...
